Ohio Social Security Disability Attorney

Does the Medical Expert Agree?

You know that your impairments are real enough and severe enough to prevent you from working. And yet your initial application was denied, just like more than 85 percent of all initial applications in Ohio each year.

Whatever you do now, don't give up. Instead, do what you can to get the Social Security Administration (SSA) to change their mind.

At Shifrin Newman Smith Inc., we have been dedicated to handling government disability claims on behalf of Ohio residents since 1985. Having helped thousands of people navigate the disability claims process, we will work with your doctor to build a strong, clear and compelling case for an approval of benefits based on solid medical evidence. We will gather this evidence for you (a service many firms won't provide) and will even cover the medical records fee if you can't afford it.

Call 877-230-5500 or contact us online for a free consultation today. And if we don't win, you don't pay any attorney fee.

Why Is the Medical Expert There?

If an Administrative Law Judge can't resolve the medical issues in your case based on the details in the file, they may ask a medical expert to attend and provide additional medical information at your ALJ hearing.

Who will this medical expert be? The expert will be a licensed physician or psychologist hired by the Social Security Administration to review and interpret the medical records. The expert then gives the judge their medical opinion as to whether you meet or equal one of the listings.

If the medical expert says "No," they may then be asked to give an additional opinion about your functional limitations, which will help the judge to answer questions four and five in the five-step disability evaluation process.

As attorneys, we may not be able to make the medical expert change their mind but we can, on your behalf, introduce new medical evidence, ask follow-up questions and point out any records the expert may have not read or did not consider.
