In Ohio, it can be hard to secure Social Security income or disability benefits after you've been injured.

It seems ridiculous.

Yet, there are many disabled individuals who are out of work because of an injury or permanent disability, who still have to fight to receive the benefits they are entitled to receive.

After submitting your disability claim in Ohio, you may wait up to six months before receiving an initial decision. Depending on the decision, you may need to appeal -- and the appeals process can take several more months or even years.

During this time, the state will review your medical history, looking for anything that might reject your claim. While the state determines the fate of your Social Security disability claim, you wait.

What if you can't wait?

If you, physically, cannot work and have no source of income, what then?

For many, the solution is moving in with a friend or another family member. Moving to another city, or even state, can interrupt many aspects of your life -- but this may be the best option. You may find yourself in a position where you simply can't afford to stay.

We've seen it over and over again.

At Shifrin Newman Smith Inc. we have represented many clients who were forced to move and had to transfer their Social Security application to a new location. If you are in the middle of a battle for the Social Security benefits you deserve, yet have no choice but to leave your home and move, we can still help you. Regardless of where you move, our attorneys will continue to fight on your behalf or we will help you find a qualified lawyer in your new location.

It's a frustrating process, sometimes a long process -- but we know how to give it a happy ending and we can help you find a satisfactory conclusion to your case.
